Father's Day
Father's Day is the third Sunday in June. In 2022, it falls on Sunday, June 19th.
Father's Day is a day to express gratitude to fathers who work hard for their families.
I would like to give this to my father as a token of my appreciation and gratitude for all his hard work.
The Origin of Father's Day
Father's Day began in the United States in 1910.
It is said that this tradition was started when a woman named JB Dot, who lives in Washington state in the United States, had a Father's Day service held in June, the birth month of her father, who had raised her six siblings alone after their mother passed away.
Later, since there is a Mother's Day but no Father's Day, I asked the church to create a day to thank fathers like Mother's Day, and so we held a Father's Day celebration at our church.
In 1916, the President of the United States gave a speech on Father's Day, and Father's Day became widely recognized.
Later, in 1972, the third Sunday in June was designated as "Father's Day" and it was made a national holiday.
It began to spread in Japan around 1950, and became a common event in the 1980s.
