En -.
Before a single Japanese umbrella is made, there are various craftsmen who make the bones that form the framework, make the parts called the potter's wheel Tsujikura's craftsmen then make the umbrella into a single piece.
Wagasa is made through relationships between people, and these relationships are then passed on to customers and the next generation. Japanese parasols are named ‘En’, meaning ‘to connect’. We will devote ourselves to making wagasa every day so that we can expand our connections with people all over the world.
Hand-dyed yuzen washi
The ‘jizome’ process dyes the base of the entire sheet of washi, followed by the ‘shiro-sappashi’ process, in which a mould is used to dye the paper. Colour insertion is repeated as many times as the number of colours. Finally, a hot plate and warm air are used to dry the paper, resulting in gorgeous hand-dyed yuzen washi.
*Please note that this cannot be used in the rain.
