This is a design that has been popular for a long time, as there are many Ukiyoe paintings of beautiful women holding jyanome pattern rain umbrellas. Tsujikura’s serpentine pattern is a combination of various colors in addition to the white ringed serpentine pattern.
The “Matte-finished Janome” uses black bamboo for the handle and wood for the parts that hold the umbrella together, reviving the traditional Japanese umbrella design.
The lacquer used for the bones of the umbrella is matte black. The lacquer used for the bones of the umbrella is matte black, not the glossy lacquer used in the past, but a deeper and calmer texture that enhances the chic atmosphere when the umbrella is opened.
Tsujikura has breathed new life into the traditional jyanome eyes pattern that has been handed down to us by our predecessors, while preserving it.

Koetsu-cha is a brown color with a calm and serene atmosphere, and the center circle is jet black. This unique and impactful Japanese umbrella can be used as a Japanese interior decoration.

This umbrella is made with Washi paper. It is slim and light, the most simple style and easy to use. It is recommended for the first Wagasa. Maiko and Geiko in Kyoto are actually using this type of Wagasa.

How to Use the Wagasa
When you walk carrying the closed umbrella, please grasp the head of the Wagasa, or for Janome please grasp the cord on the head, and for Bangasa please hold the leather strings bound around the head.

How to Open the Wagasa
The Wagasa may be difficult to open due to the waterproof grease on the Washi. Please lightly grasp the bottom of the runner at the bottom inside the umbrella, and slowly and carefully push to the top to open the Wagasa.
