◇Disney/Kyoto Traditional Crafts Series
Japanese Parasol <Minnie Tsukiyado/Red>
Under the supervision of Walt Disney Japan, Tsujikura has created a Japanese parasol that combines the traditional craft techniques handed down in Kyoto with the world of Disney.
We combined Disney elements with traditional Japanese umbrella patterns (Tsukiyakko pattern and Janome pattern), which have been popular among people with a high sense of aesthetics since ancient times. We felt an affinity between the simple pattern and Mitsumaru, and created it with the aim of harmonizing with the original design.
The process of stretching washi paper over the umbrella body is called "do-bari."
In Japanese parasols, this is called "Kiritsugi".
Using highly advanced techniques of cutting, gluing and joining,
Mickey and Minnie are depicted using handmade washi paper dyed in different colors.
Each piece is carefully handcrafted.
◇This product cannot be used on rainy days.
