Kyoto Kurotani Special Parasol "Unryu/Tanabata Light Brown"
Kyoto's "Kurotani Washi" x Kyoto's "Wagasa-ya Tsujikura"
Traditional crafts that have been protected and nurtured throughout a long history.
Kurotani Washi, a papermaking village in Ayabe, Kyoto, is an extremely rare type of washi paper, each and every sheet of which is handmade by artisans.
It is characterized by its durability and long life, and can withstand long-term storage, so it is also used in the restoration of cultural properties.
This rare Kurotani Unryu paper was used to make paper specifically for Tsujikura's Japanese umbrellas.
Kurotani's Unryu paper was completed over a long period of time, and when held up to the sun the paper mulberry appears to stand out beautifully.
A skilled craftsman took his time to carefully craft this parasol.
We are particular about producing authentic products, starting from the raw materials.
We hope you will pick up the item and feel the long story that goes into its creation.

◇ Each and every charm - Experience Japanese umbrellas with all five senses -
・The handle is made of black bamboo. It feels great when you hold it in your hand.
It's smooth and feels good in the hand.
・When the umbrella is closed it retains the beautiful, slender appearance of a single stalk of bamboo.
・The kozo paper used in Unryu paper becomes transparent when held up to the sun.
*Unryu paper is paper made by scattering long fibers of hand-torn kozo (paper mulberry) onto the base paper to create a cloud-like pattern.
- The crisp sound you hear when you open an umbrella as the folded Japanese paper comes apart one by one.
・The fastener that determines how open the umbrella is is made of wood rather than metal.
The clicking sound of the wooden clasps is a pleasant sound.
We will deliver the finest products from "Kyoto Kurotani Washi" and "Kyoto Wagasa-ya Tsujikura."
