"Black Bamboo Parasol" Stencil Dyeing "Polka Dots"
■ Black bamboo Japanese parasol
Tsujikura's "Black Bamboo" Japanese parasol is made entirely from natural materials without using any metal.
The handle is made of black bamboo, and the part that holds the umbrella in place is made of wood.
Bamboo nails are used to secure the part (rokuro) that connects the umbrella ribs to the bamboo handle.
■ Stencil-dyed Japanese paper
Among the many dyeing techniques in Japan, this is an ancient tradition that brings together rich patterns and delicate techniques unique to the Japanese. The parts that will not be dyed are coated with a paste to prevent the dye from being dyed, and then each color is applied using a different stencil. The design finally becomes clear when the paste floats off the washi paper in the final process of water.
■ Polka dot pattern
The front of the umbrella is a dark blue polka dot pattern on a natural background, while the inside has a see-through pattern, making it a modern and stylish Japanese parasol. If you are using a Japanese parasol for the first time, you can enjoy the gentle sunlight of the Japanese parasol with its slightly modern polka dot pattern.
