Paper Naturally Parasol “Black Bamboo” / Polka Dots
■Black Bamboo Japanese parasol
Tsujikura's black bamboo Japanese parasol is made of natural materials without using any metal.
The handle is made of black bamboo, and wood is used for the parts (hajiki) that hold the umbrella open, and bamboo nails are used to fix the parts (rokuro) that connect the bamboo handle to the umbrella bone.
■Katazome Washi
Among the various dyeing techniques used in Japan, katazome washi has a long tradition and is a technique that brings together a rich pattern expression and the delicate hand skills unique to the Japanese. After applying glue to the areas not to be dyed to prevent dyeing, colors are applied using different katazome patterns for each color. At the final step, when the glue rises out of the washi in water, the design finally becomes clear.
■Polka dot pattern
The front side of the umbrella has a dark blue polka-dot pattern on a solid color background, and the inside is a modern and stylish Japanese parasol with the pattern visible through the openings. For those who use a Japanese umbrella for the first time, please enjoy the gentle sunlight of the Japanese parasol with a slightly modern polka dot pattern.
*Please note that these parasols may not be used in rainy weather.
