From November to December, Tsujikura Japanese umbrella craftsmen climb the mountains of the ancient capital where there are few insects, search for bamboo, and spend about three months carefully handcrafting each umbrella with all their heart and soul. The Japanese paper used is "Kurotani Washi," an intangible cultural property of Kyoto. The carefully crafted Japanese umbrellas are completed through more than 100 production processes.
It is a work of art. It is the result of the virtuosity of a craftsman who can only make one Japanese umbrella from one stalk of bamboo. When the umbrella is closed, it returns to its original shape as a single beautiful stalk of bamboo.
On rainy days... on sunny days... on days when you wear a kimono or Western clothes, you can enjoy it as an umbrella for everyday use. You can also open it and display it as an elegant interior piece in your room. History Flow how Reisei Umbrella has been developed

I would like to inherit and succeed the elegant Japanese beautiful culture that has been passed down from ancient Japan into a new form and deliver it to everyone around the world.
With such a heart-pounding feeling a chance happening led us to start a joint business venture with a great Umbrella maker “Tsujikura” , which has been going on for 300 years since the Edo period. Thanks to the connection with the Japan's oldest Japanese umbrella maker “Tsujikura”, Special Reisei Japanese Umbrella has been finished.
Tsujikura craftsmen climb the mountains near the ancient capital searching for black bamboos during November through December when there are few insects.
The work cost them a great deal of labor. Only one umbrella is finished from one black bamboo got through such hardships. It takes about three months to finish handmade umbrella Each umbrella is carefully finished one by one with craftsmanʼ s whole heart and soul.
Japanese paper used for those umbrellas is Kyoto intangible cultural property “Kurodani Unryushi Paper.

Each and every one of these umbrellas is a SPECIAL ORDER. After receiving the order, the Tsujikura craftsmen go through 100 steps of manual work...
The calligrapher and artist, Liqing, will handwrite a serial number and signature on this special limited edition item, which will be delivered to you in approximately 3 months.
