The "Kiwami" series is made using ingredients carefully selected by Tsujikura and by skilled craftsmen.
The raw material, "Ecchu Handmade Washi," is made from paper mulberry fibers that have been exposed to snow, taking advantage of the snowy climate of the region, and each sheet is hand-made.
Each handmade paper has a slightly different thickness. Because many sheets of paper are joined together to make one umbrella, sheets of paper of the same thickness are selected while holding them up to the light to ensure there are no differences in thickness.
Umbrellas made from carefully selected materials through these processes and by skilled craftsmen are not only sturdy, but also beautiful when standing.
When light passes through it, it envelops you in the soft, transparent colors of the plant-dyed fabric, and the lacquer on the ribs enhances the colors, being applied in multiple layers to give it a neat and lustrous appearance.
"Kiwame" was born from the fusion of Tsujikura's 300-year-old history and Ecchu handmade washi paper.
The result is a Japanese umbrella that truly deserves to be called the "perfection."
